WOMEN OWNED

WhipperHill is dedicated to leading industry standards, driving innovation in construction, environmental compliance, and organizational culture. With an underrepresentation of women in construction, particularly in leadership roles, WhipperHill embarked to challenge the status quo. In 2015, we took a transformative step by becoming a woman-owned business, with 60% female ownership, aimed at fostering change.

In 2023, WhipperHill achieved certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) through the National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC), the first national certifier of WBEs and provider of national certification for women and veteran-owned companies. At the start of 2024, WhipperHill was proud to announce national certification as a WBE by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council – West, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). WBENC Certification is the gold standard for women-owned business certification in the United States. Additionally, WhipperHill is now approved as a small business (SB) and small diverse business (SDB) with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion, and Small Business Opportunities (BDISBO) of the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.

The WBENC standard of certification implemented by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council – West is a meticulous process, including an in-depth review of the business and a site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women, and that the business has appropriate structure and strategic business planning and implementation in place.

WBENC Certification combined with professional development and engagement in the WBENC network provides unsurpassed opportunities year-round, both virtually and in-person, for women-owned businesses to grow and expand their business and innovation through events, programming and connections with major corporations and other WBEs. To expand on this, WhipperHill is also a proud corporate member of the Women’s Energy Network (WEN),  a global organization of professionals who work across the energy value chain. WhipperHill resonates with WEN’s vision to be the premier global organization that educates, attracts, retains, and develops professionals working across the energy value chain, and it aims to help WEN in their mission to provide networking opportunities and foster the career and leadership development of women who work in the energy industries.

These recognitions and involvements solidify our dedication to diversity and inclusion, positioning us as a trailblazer in championing gender equality and empowerment within our industry. By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to doing the same, which in turn empowers women as leaders and brings about a more diverse, balanced and sustainable economy.
